In 1997, Cacapon Institute began an intensive study of land use influences on water quality in the Potomac Headwaters in WV.

 

The following nutrient parameters were included:

bulletReactive Phosphorus
bulletNitrate-Nitrogen
Under most conditions, nitrate provides a realistic estimate of Total Nitrogen levels in streams.
