Zach started at Cacapon Institute in June of 2017 as the Watershed BMP Specialist and, since September 2019 he acts as Cacapon Institute’s Project Manager. His prior work included working for the Maryland Park Service for 9 years, where he led and participated in multiple forestry and conservation projects. He is an avid fly fisherman and backpacker, and enjoys spending his free time in the woods or on the water. Since working for Cacapon Institute he developed and manages Your Community BMP (YourBMP) program, which provides private landowners an opportunity to organize together and implement conservation BMPs like tree plantings. Additionally, he manages Cacapon Institute’s water quality laboratory and Project Inventory. He works on aquatic connectivity and land cover studies. He has a BS in Environmental Science, an Applied Laboratory Technician Certificate, and is working towards his ISA Arborist Certification. He currently lives in Great Cacapon, West Virginia.
