Tristan Puffenberger

Tristan Puffenberger, Forestry Coordinator, joined Cacapon Institute in September 2023. His primary focus revolves around planning and executing riparian forest buffer plantings. With the use of ArcGIS mapping, Tristan identifies and designates new locations to augment the acreage of riparian buffers along waterways feeding into the Chesapeake Bay.

Tristan holds an Associates in Applied Science with a specialization in Forest Technology from Allegany College of Maryland. His time at ACM was marked by hands-on experience in managing wildfires and conducting prescription burns, earning him certifications as a Class 2 Wildland Firefighter. Additionally, he actively engaged in Timbersports and now contributes to coaching ACM’s Woodsmans Team. Tristan is committed to revitalizing neglected or inadequately managed riparian zones, fostering their resurgence to optimal health. His dedication is directed toward affecting substantial change in preventing water pollution, encapsulating commitment to environmental conservation.
